After five years working together as one of New York City’s most trusted lighting teams, Mike Martino and Jeff DeCaito set out on their own to establish City Lighting Representatives in April 2020. While the world at that moment was full of uncertainty, Mike and Jeff believed in the resilience of people to overcome the global health crisis and begin planning and constructing for a new-and-improved built environment.
With their core values of hard-work, integrity and respect, and with help from the manufacturers and clients who believed in their vision, City Lighting Representatives was created and began delivering successful projects for their partners from the day New York construction reopened.

Mike started his lighting career reverse-commuting from a shoebox apartment in Manhattan to Philips Lighting in Somerset, NJ after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Boston University in 2012. Part of the first generation of lighting professionals who would be taught about LED before incandescent technology, and faced immediately with the challenges of disrupting a century-old business, Mike learned how to help people embrace change by understanding their problems and taking ownership over providing the solution.
Prior to co-founding City Lighting, Mike served as Vice President of Specification Sales for The Lighting Group where he first began servicing New York’s great design community and delivering Lighting & Controls solutions for the world’s largest corporations and real estate developers who call this city home. Outside of work Mike can be found anywhere there is live music or sports and enjoys sharing great food with good people, family, and friends.

Jeff has been working with lighting and controls since the early 2000’s, when he worked on energy rebate projects for an ESCO while earning a degree from New Jersey City University in 2004. Passionate about sports, he played baseball for both Sacred Heart University and NJCU during his college career before landing positions with the New Jersey Nets and Chicago Cubs organizations. Jeff then went on to start his own MLB certified agency representing top young talent in baseball, where he gained experience in contract negotiations and business operations before returning full-time back into lighting.
While transitioning back into the industry, Jeff held a job with a top distributor in New Jersey working alongside contractors to secure and manage lighting projects for Macy’s and other major accounts. Before co-founding City Lighting, Jeff was running day-to-day operations and managing key distributor and end-user accounts for The Lighting Group. Experiencing various aspects of the lighting business over the years has given Jeff a deep understanding of the industry and taught him how to maintain strong relationships with consistent, reliable service. When not working, Jeff enjoys golfing, watching his kids play sports, and cooking for his family.
